4 believers gathered in assembly to dispute whose way to God was wiser.
God gave each one of them a tennis ball and stood them in front of a wall.
He said, “This wall represents Christ and that ball your faith. If you can reach Christ with your faith you will be saved.”
The first threw the ball hard at the wall and it returned.
The second bounced the wall off the ground and unto the wall and it returned.
The third threw the ball in the air towards the wall and it returned.
The fourth thinking he were wiser than all three threw the ball over the wall, walked to where the ball was and returned it to himself.
God spoke, “All three of you put your faith in Christ. No matter how your faith attended to Him, he responded and saved you.”
The fourth realizing he was left out exclaimed, “What about me?”
God replied, “Although these three teach the word in their own way, it is still depending upon the salvation of Christ. You teach that one can save himself and thus cannot be saved.”
1 Peter 4:11
11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
This analogy describes the 4 types of believers.
1. The first type are the hard hitters. They bring strong conviction with their faith in Christ.
2. The second type are considerate. They believe in taking their time with the message of faith which leads to Christ.
3. The third kind are filled with wonderment. They enjoy teaching a faith to Christ which leaves you wondering and filled with hope.
4. The fourth kind are essentially non-believers. Their kind of faith teaches that individuals can find a way outside of Christ into heaven and secure their own salvation.
